About Edith Valencia

Edith Valencia, a proud Mexican-American, is a trailblazer as the first generation born in the US within her family. Growing up immersed in Spanish, she navigated the bilingual landscape, mastering English through her schooling journey.

Her academic path led her to UCLA, where she earned a Bachelor's degree in Spanish with a minor in Latin American studies, focusing on linguistics.

Starting her career in education, she served as a dedicated high school Spanish teacher for two years before transitioning to a role in Human Resources. As the sole Spanish speaker in the management team, Edith played a vital role in bridging communication gaps, translating documents, and facilitating meetings.

Eager to expand her skills, Edith pursued training in legal translation and interpreting at the Southern California School of Interpretation. Embracing her passion for education, she later became a substitute teacher at a dual immersion elementary school, further enriching the lives of young learners.

Currently, Edith serves as a crucial language liaison, where she continues to translate documents and facilitate meetings, ensuring effective communication within the diverse community she proudly serves. With her dedication to language and education, Edith embodies resilience, determination, and the power of cultural diversity
